St Anne rule change
Due to the low ceiling at the St. Anne gym. The following rule will be in effect for the remainder of the Fall 2009 season.
If you hit the ceiling with the ball on a pass to another teammate (ie the ball does not go over the net), the ball is still live and can be played by your own teammates. However, the ball may not hit the ceiling on an attack (any hit that directs the ball over the net). This includes the serve or any bump, set, or other hit where the ball crosses over the net.
We think this rule will help play continue on hard serves or attacks that are tough to handle without hitting the ceiling, but will prevent teams from using the roof for an unfair advantage and will encourage controlled attacks.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email brent@teamplay.ca.
Thanks!
Beach Volleyball rules Q&A

Q: Are players in the back row allowed to come to the net to hit the ball?
A: Officially, since there is no "attack line" in beach volleyball, there is no rule to restricts players in the back row from attacking (directing any ball that is above the height of the net over to your opponents side of the net) when they are close to the net. However, as a matter of good sportsmanship, we ask that back row players refrain from spiking or blocking within 1 metre of the net.
