FAQ
1. What is Teamplay.ca?We're not some faceless corporation; we're here to play too. That means we don't just hand you a ball or a disc on the first day and then disappear. You'll find at least one of us playing in most of our leagues. So we really do care about making sure that everyone has a great time because we want to have a great time too. That's why we run teamplay.ca. 2. I don’t think I’m very good. Can I still play?Yes! Competitive play is encouraged, but playing at teamplay.ca is really about having a blast, getting in shape, and meeting fun people in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, all competitors are expected to be friendly and encouraging to their teammates and to their opponents at all times. Some of our sports may be offered in three classes: Recreational, Intermediate, and Competitive. If there is more than one option, be sure to sign up for the appropriate league. 3. Can I sign up as an individual?Yes, teamplay.ca will place you on team that may need a few more people, or you may be placed on a team constructed of all individuals who have never met before. We will do our best to find the best possible fit for you. During the online registration, you can leave us any special requests in the "Notes" field. 4. Can I be on the same team as my friends? If you don’t have a full team, but would like to sign up as a group, each of your friends should sign up as an individual and leave us a message in the Notes section about your group. We can’t guarantee anything, but we’ll do our best to accommodate you. 5. Some of our players can’t come this week. Can we bring substitute players?Yes, just make sure all new players sign a waiver and hand it in to a Teamplay.ca representative before the game. All captains should have extra waiver forms included in their captain’s package. If you need more waiver forms, please email us at brent@teamplay.ca at least 24 hours before your game and we’ll be sure bring extras. And in the spirit of fair play, no ringers! That is, substitute players should not be stronger players than the ones they are replacing. For playoffs, a sub must have played in a least 1 or 2 games in the regular season (see each sport's specific rules) to be eligible to play in a playoff game. 6. Are the games rescheduled if the weather is bad?No, all games are played rain or shine unless there is lightning, other extreme weather conditions, or the fields are closed by the city. Games cancelled due to lightning or extreme weather will not be rescheduled. 7. Our opponents didn’t show up. What do we do?Defaults are rare, but in the event the other team doesn’t show up or doesn’t have
enough players, you will automatically win the game. You are welcome to use the
field or court during your scheduled match for a fun game or practice. 8. Can I suggest new sports to Teamplay.ca?Yes,
please do. We’re always looking for new sports to play. We need to make sure
there’s enough demand, so the more people that suggest a sport, the more likely
we are to add it to the schedule. 9. I have a problem with, or a suggestion for, your website. Can I let you know?Of course. To keep your playing costs low, we do all of the web design ourselves. We’re not pros, but we getting better and we have big plans for the site. Please let us know about any bugs you find or any suggestions you have to make the site better. Stay tuned for new features coming to the website in the next few months. 10. Is it safe to use my credit card to register on your website? To make sure your payment information is highly secure, all of our payments are handled by Paypal. 11. Where and when are games played?Teamplay.ca currently offers leagues in Kitchener
and Waterloo. We hope to expand to neighbouring communities as we continue to
grow. The venues themselves will be a mix of school facilities (fields and
gyms), community centres, public fields and private facilities. Games are
played once a week on a given day, Sunday to Thursday. Refer to league schedules for specific times/days/locations. 12. What are spirit points and why are they used?Spirit points are awarded to each team by their opponent and are
a way to rank spirit point. Spirit points play an integral role in promoting
fair play and ensuring a fun experience for all. Spirit points are used as the
tie-breaker if teams are tied at the end of the regular season in the standings.
Please see the rules for your sport for guidelines on how to assign spirit score. 13. Is there a place to celebrate with teammates after the game? Where are the Post-Game Socials?Yes. After each game visit our local sponsor pubs where you can relax and have fun after your game and enjoy a deal with your teammates. Please visit each sport's post game page to view the location. 14. Is there random testing for performance enhancing drugs?Ummm...no. If someone asks you to pee in a cup, they're not with teamplay.ca.
